The event will be a good opportunity for them to test their skills after finishing third at the Asian Chess Championships in China in May.
In the 2008 Chess Olympiad, the Viet Nam men's team finished ninth out of 154 participating teams.
Nam wins 25m rapid-fire pistol
Bui Quang Nam won the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event at the National Outstanding Shooters Tournament in Ha Noi yesterday, June 25.
Ha Minh Thanh of the Military and national shooter Kieu Thanh Tu finished second and third.
In the women's 10m air rifle event, Nguyen Thi Thu Hang from the Military finished first with 370 points, followed by Dang Hong Ha (367) and Do Thuy Linh (351).
The tournament will wrap up on Friday.
Hanoian juniors set for home run
Ha Noi's junior baseball team will be competing in the Little League Asian Pacific Baseball U14 Championship tournament in Nha Trang City from June 30 to July 7, the team's chairman Nguyen Ngoc Thuy said yesterday, June 25.
The event is expected to attract teams from Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Indonesia and the Philippines, as well as Viet Nam.
The organising committee will also host a tournament for U10 teams from Indonesia, International Sai Gon, International Nha Trang and Ha Noi.
The Hanoian team, founded in 2008, draws over 100 players to train each weekend in Ha Noi under the supervision of American lawyer Thomas Treutler.
The team has collected a clutch of medals including the Asian Pacific Baseball U14 and U12 Championships in 2010 and 2011, respectively.
