The Vietnamese athlete will not only defend her bronze medal pocketed here last year, but also hopes to score a higher result in the women's Under-48kg category.
Tu, the only Vietnamese judoka at present to earn a London Olympics berth, will have to face strong rivals from Japan, South Korea and China.
The continental tournament is a wonderful chance for the Soc Trang Province-born athlete to warm up ahead of the summer Games.
Viet Nam finish third at ISTAF Super Series
The national women's sepak takraw team beat hosts Indonesia 3-1 (15-12, 12-15, 15-12, 15-12) to take third place at the International Sepak Takraw Federation (ISTAF) Super Series yesterday, Feb 26.
After Indonesia levelled the match in the second set, player Lai Thi Huyen Trang was replaced by teammate Cao Thi Hai Yen. The latter used her height and windmill serves to help the team overcome Indonesia, who had prevailed against Viet Nam 3-1 in the qualifying round.
However, the Vietnamese victory saw the team solidify their third place ranking in the ISTAF Super Series and second place in the World Rankings.
Thailand, who defeated Viet Nam in the semi-finals, won the Super Series title after a tough battle with South Korea in the final round.
