Top five swimmers in training to compete at Malaysia Open

Viet Nam will be taking part in the 54th Malaysia Open Swimming Championship in Kuala Lumpur in May.

The four-day tournament will now begin on May 12, instead of May 2 as originally planned.

Viet Nam's top five swimmers – Nguyen Huu Viet, Vo Thai Nguyen, Pham Thanh Nguyen, Nguyen Thi Anh Vien and Le Thi My Thao – will be competing.

However, injured veteran Viet, the Hai Phong city-born SEA Games gold medallist, is not expected to perform to the best of his abilities.

Youngsters who will be hoping to gain valuable experience include Hoang Quy Phuoc from Da Nang, Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen and Tran Tam Nguyen from HCM City, and Duong Thi Thom of Quang Ninh.

Vietnamese swimmers are hoping to gain places at the World Swimming Championships 2011 in July in China and the London 2012 Olympics if they perform well.
