Viet Nam lose to Myanmar in Asian women's contest

Viet Nam went down to Myanmar 2-1 in the second qualifying round for the Asian Football Confederation U19 Women's Championships in HCM City on Saturday.

Myanmar controlled the match from the first minute but Viet Nam, supported by the home fans, also created chances.
In the 35th minute, Khin Nway opened the score for the visitors.

After the break, Viet Nam attacked and Nguyen Thi My Anh levelled in the 55th minute.

In the 83rd minute, from a corner kick, Win Theingi put her header past goalkeeper Nguyen Thi Hang to put Myanmar 2-1 in front.

Viet Nam will meet India today, Dec 3.

Liem ranks higher in world

Chess grandmaster Le Quang Liem has jumped a step to 40th in world ranking, according to the World Chess Federation's December list released on Sunday.

Liem ranks fourth in Asia and No 1 in Southeast Asia.

On the women's side, the sole representative from Viet Nam is GM Pham Le Thao Nguyen, standing at 52nd.

None of Viet Nam's junior boys are in the top 100, but Nguyen Thi Mai Hung is No 26 in the girls' ranking.

Ha Noi T&T win Binh Phuoc football event

Ha Noi T&T defeated Preah Khan Reach in the final last Friday of the Binh Phuoc TV Cup Invitational Football Championship.

U21 Lao and hosts Binh Phuoc shared third.

The eight teams, including three each from Cambodia and Viet Nam and two from Laos, were split into two pools.
