Women's football team set for pre-tournament training in China

The Viet Nam women's national football team leave for China today to attend a training course in Kunming in preparation for the Southeast Asian Women's Football Championships.

They will play friendlies against local clubs as part of their training.

The tournament will take place in HCM City from September 13-22.

Viet Nam volleyball team to compete at AVC Cup

Viet Nam's national men's team will take part in the Asian Volleyball Confederation Cup at Vinh Yen Gymnasium in Vinh Phuc Province starting from tomorrow, Sept 1.

The hosts have finished a training course in Thailand and are now making their final preparations for the tournament.
Viet Nam have been drawn in Group A with Myanmar, South Korea and Japan. Group B includes Iran, India, Australia and China.

On the opening day, they will face Myanmar at 7.30pm.

The tournament will wrap up next Friday.

VFF bans player for attempted match fixing

The Viet Nam Football Federation on Wednesday said it had banned Nguyen Thanh Trung for five years for attempted match fixing.

Trung who is a member of Military Zone 9 Sport Centre based in Can Tho City asked two Dong Tam Long An players to fix the result of their First Division match against Fico Tay Ninh on May 17, the federation said.

Trung is not allowed to take part in any football activities organised by the federation.

Trung denied the claim, saying it was a joke. He has seven days to appeal.
