Riders at the ready for national cycling race
The National Cycling Race, Return to the Country, is scheduled to start next Monday.
Riders will pedal 591km during the five-day event via eight cities and provinces including HCM City, Long An, Dong Thap, Vinh Long, Can Tho, Soc Trang, Hau Giang and An Giang.
Strong teams from the south such as Vinh Long Television and Domesco Dong Thap are favourites to win the event.

The National Bodybuilding Clubs Cup got off the ground yesterday, June 2, at the Dong Nai Gymnasium with the participation of more than 100 athletes from 22 clubs nationwide.
They are competing for 13 sets of medals in both men's and women's disciplines.
Dong Nai's athletes are confident of their chances at the event which will finish next Monday, having recently honed their skills at tough international events.
Viet Nam to host 10 international contests
Viet Nam will play host to 10 big international sporting events this year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced.
HCM City will host five events, including the Asian U-19 Women's Football Festival in June, the 2014 World Cup Asian qualifying round in June and July, the World Vovinam Championships in July, the final round of the Asian Women's Football Championships in October, and the Asian U-19 Men's Football Championships Group F qualifying round in October and November.
Ha Noi will host the second qualifying round of men's football for the London 2012 Olympics in June and the Southeast Asian Youth Gymnastics Championships in July.
Finishing the line up, Da Nang will host the Southeast Asian Age Groups Swimming Championships in June, Hai Duong will host the 17th Southeast Asian Youth Table Tennis Championships and the Asian Boys' U-16 Basket Championships will be going to Khanh Hoa in October.
Dunes to host Vietnamese amateur golf tournaments
The Da Nang-based Dunes Golf Club will host the Viet Nam Amateur Open and Viet Nam Ladies National Championships from June 9-12, the Viet Nam Golf Association announced yesterday.
More than 100 amateur golfers are scheduled to compete over four rounds of the par-72 course.
The top 60 players will make the cut after two rounds, and go on to compete for the title.
The women's competition will see 24 golfers with a handicap of 20 battling it out over three rounds. The top 12 will qualify for the final round after 36 holes.
