Hoang Thien to enter final of Malacca championships

Viet Nam's Nguyen Hoang Thien and Thai Wishaya Trongcharoenchaiku defeated Thailand's Punn Bodhidatta and Singekrawee Wattanakul in the semi-finals of the boys' doubles at the fourth International Tennis Federation (ITF) Malacca International Junior Championship in Malaysia on Wednesday.

They will meet Indonesia's Wisnu and Uneputty in the final.

Last month, the 16-year-old won the ITF U18 Summer Championship in New Zealand doubles event and made it through to the semi-finals of the men's singles.

Thien now ranks 241 in the ITF junior rankings.

Trang An Ninh Binh have late finish to win Hoa Lu Cup

The hosts took the first set 25-20, but Khanh Hoa came back in the second to win 30-28.

However, Ninh Binh composed themselves in the third and fourth to win 25-11 in both sets.

The victory follows Ninh Binh's defeat of Laos 3-0 on Tuesday.

The tournament ends on Sunday.

The winners will walk away with VND70 million (US$3,500) in prize money.

Ha Noi T&T lose to Muang Thong at confederation Cup

Ha Noi T&T lost to Muang Thong United of Thailand 4-0 in the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup on Wednesday.

The V-League champions, who were without a number of key players because of injury, failed to take full advantage of the few chances they created.

The hosts however were not so reticent, scoring goals in the 23rd, 53rd, 59th and 90th minute.

On the same day, Singapore's Tampines Rovers beat Maldives' Victory 3-1.
