Tennis tournaments to attract top professionals, amateurs

Nearly 300 tennis players will compete in tournaments for professionals and amateurs from May 5-13 at My Dinh Indoor Athletics Gymnasium in Ha Noi.

Top national players such as Do Minh Quan, Le Quoc Khanh and Bui Thai Luan will take part in the professional competition, while 200 amateurs will battle it out in the other event.

A total of VND150 million (US$7,200) is up for grabs in prize money.

The semi-finals and final will be broadcast on Viet Nam Television's Channel 3 on May 12-13.

The tournaments are being organised by www.vntennis.net, a forum for tennis lovers in Viet Nam.

Golfers to tee off for Kings Island tournament

Amateur and professional golfers will compete at the Montgomerie Links Comes to Ha Noi tournament at Kings Island Golf&Country Club on June 8.

Foreign and domestic golfers will compete in a one round tournament at Son Tay town, 60km west of Ha Noi.

It's the second time the tournament has been held in Ha Noi.

Last year, the tournament drew over 100 golfers.

Da Nang's players called up to compete in international quest

Four players from Da Nang's U-19 team have been called up by the national team for the International Friendly Football tournament in Palestine from May 14-22.

Defender Nguyen Ngoc Quy, midfielders Vo Huy Toan, Ho Ngoc Thang and striker Nguyen Anh Phong helped Da Nang finish second in the national U-19 football championships last week.

The team will leave for the tournament on May 11.
