Vinh Phuc golf tournament planned

The CEO's Open Golf&Life Tournament will tee off at the Heron Lake Golf Course in northern Vinh Phuc Province on November 23.

The tournament is expected to attract more than 100 golfers who will be divided into three divisions: handicaps of 0-15, 16-28 and 29 plus.

The organisers will award prizes for the top three men and women in each division, as well as for the longest drive and nearest the pin.

Anyone lucky enough to hit a hole-in-one will walk away with a Mercedes, a diamond ring or a plot of prime real estate.

Cuong wins gold in national archery

Hanoian Nguyen Tien Cuong performed superbly to win another gold medal at the ongoing National Archery Championships in the northern port city of Hai Phong.

Cuong took the men's 50m compound (three-stringed bow) with 346 points. In the same event at the National Outstanding Archers two years ago, he set a national record of 348 points.

Earlier, Cuong also bagged two gold medals in the men's 90m and 70m compound. Soc Trang's Nguyen Thi Quyen Trang won a gold medal in the women's 50m recurve (one-stringed bow).
The event will finish tomorrow.

Teams gather for Binh Duong champs

Three teams, one local and one each from Brazil and Japan, will make their debut at the 13th Binh Duong Television football championship Number One Cup when it kicks off on November 16.

A total of eight teams, four local and four foreign, are in the fray this year.

They are divided into two groups. Group A will have host team Becamex Binh Duong, the national U22 team, Chonburi of Thailand and Express FC of Uganda; and Group B will have V-League defending champions SHB Da Nang, National Cup reigning champions Sai Gon Xuan Thanh, Gremio Barueri of Brazil and Avispa Fukuoka of Japan.

The Vietnamese U22 team, Gremio and Avispa are competing in the tournament for the first time.

The winner will pocket US$20,000, the runners-up $10,000 and the third-placed team, $5,000.

National wushu event kicks off

Around 300 martial artists are competing at the National Wushu Championships in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

Athletes from 27 teams nationwide including Ha Noi, HCM City, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Gia Lai, Da Nang, Dong Nai and Binh Dinh will compete for 39 sets of medals in both the combat and performance events.

The tournament will finish on Saturday.

Viet Nam lose to young North Korea

Viet Nam's U19 team lost 0-5 to North Korea in their second match of the Asian Football Confederation U19 Championships at the Emirates Club Stadium, Ras Al Khaimah City in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

Viet Nam lost 0-4 to Uzbekistan in their first match. After two losses, Viet Nam are bottom of Group C with no chance of qualifying for the next round. The team will meet Jordan in their last match of the tournament today.
