Viet Nam jump to 125th in FIFA rankings
Despite not playing any matches last month, Viet Nam have jumped up five spots to 125th in the April rankings, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) said.

Viet Nam now lead in the Southeast Asian region, followed by the Philippines at 139th and Thailand at 142nd.
They are followed by Myanmar (158th), Indonesia (159th), Singapore (162nd) and Malaysia (164th), besides Laos (178th).
In Asia, Viet Nam are in 14th place. The top three spots in Asia belong to Iran (40th), Japan (50th) and South Korea (57th).
Germany still lead the world, followed by Argentina and Belgium, respectively.
Vietnam wins 9 medals at world junior weightlifting event
Vietnam’s team have won 9 medals, including one gold and six silvers, during the first 7 competition days at the World Junior Weightlifting Championship in Peru, which will end on April 12.
Khong My Phuong, the only girl in the team, won the gold medal in the girls’ 44-kilogramme snatch category when she delivered her best lift of 70 kilograms, 3 kilograms above second-place Gao Yimei of China.
Phuong brought home two other silvers after finishing second in the clean and jerk category with a lift of 146 kilograms and a total lift of 216 kilograms.
Favourite Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan failed to land any gold medals after finishing second in all three categories in the boys’ 56-kilogramme event.
Two remaining members of the team, Le Nguyen Quoc Bao and Le Quang Vinh, claimed another silver and two bronze medals.
Nam eyes golds at Asian competition
Vietnam's No 1 Ly Hoang Nam on April 10 left for India to take part in the Asian Closed Junior Championships 2015 tennis tournament.
Nam, who is world junior No 31, has set a target of winning both the men's singles and doubles titles at the Grade B1 event. He is the No 1 seed in both categories.
The tournament has lured the continents leading competitors, and offers big bonuses of 180 points for the individual winners and 120 for the winning pairs.
The championships will kick off on April 13 and wrap up five days later.
International table tennis tournament begins
The sixth International Table Tennis Tournament for the Hoang Thach Cup 2015 began yesterday, April 10, in the northern province of Hai Duong.

Eighty players from local teams and two Chinese teams are participating in this year's tournament, which will end on April 12.
They will compete in the men and women's singles and team events.
The tournament's total prize money amounts to nearly VND100 million (US$4,700).
After this event, the men's and women's national teams will have a one-month training session in China in preparation for the coming Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June.
Dac Nong to host National Men's Tennis Championships
The National Men's Tennis Championships will commence in Dac Nong Province on April 17, the Viet Nam Tennis Federation announced.
Players in the U12, U14, U16 and U18 categories will compete in the men's singles and team events.
The tournament, which aims to develop tennis nationwide, will end on April 23.
