VN in volleyball's Group B at SEA Games

Viet Nam are in Group B at the Southeast Asian Games' men's volleyball competition in June.

They will play Indonesia, Singapore and Cambodia.

Group A comprises Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Myanmar.

The Vietnamese women's team, who are aiming for a silver medal, will face the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

Thailand, Singapore and Myanmar are in Group A.

The volleyball tournament will be organised from June 10 to 16 at the OCBC Arena Hall 2, Singapore.

Anh wins stage, leads tour

Veteran Do Tuan Anh won the seventh stage of the HCM City Television Cycling Tournament yesterday, April 16.

Anh sprinted to the finish with a time of 1hr 44.26min over the 70km from Dong Ha City of Quang Tri Province to Hue City.

Tran Van Quyen of Military Zone 7 and Le Van Duan from VUS-HCM City came second and third.

It was Anh's second victory of the day in which cyclists competed in two stages. Anh also won the 110km sixth stage from Dong Hoi City in Quang Binh Province to Road War Martyrs Cemetery.

After stage seven, Ho Huynh Van An of Military Zone 7 took the yellow jersey with total time of 17:43.02.

Nguyen Quoc Dinh of Ben Tre and Nguyen Minh Viet from BTV Binh Duong were second and third in overall ranking.

Anh's outstanding performance helped him snatch the green jersey for the best cyclist from Nguyen Vu Linh of Domesco Dong Thap. Anh has bagged 46 points.

Gao Hat Ngoc Troi An Giang stayed strongly on top of team ranking with a time of 53:12.48. Military Zone 7 and Domesco Dong Thap teams are close behind.

The 42km eighth stage today is a 20-lap run over Trang Tien and Phu Xuan bridges in Hue City.

Archers compete at national championships

More than 93 archers from 14 teams are participating in the National Archery Cup that began yesterday morning, April 16, in Ha Noi.

They will compete in the men's and women's individual, doubles and team events of both compound and recurve categories.

The annual tournament will end on April 21.

The best archers will be called to the national team that will take part in the Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June.
