The Asian Football Confederation opened a professional football coaching course for trainees from Viet Nam, the Philippines and Malaysia in Ha Noi on Wednesday.
At the opening ceremony, Viet Nam Football Federation (VFF) Permanent Vice President Tran Quoc Tuan said the national coaching committee and the VFF felt it was important to improve training for coaches in Viet Nam.

The AFC and VFF had been working together to organise training courses, conferences and workshops to equip local coaches with the skills and certificates they needed to attend advanced training courses, he added.
AFC coaching instructor Lim Kim Chon spoke highly of the VFF's efforts, saying that trainees would learn new rules of the game and become more professional in order to find solutions that Vietnamese football is currently facing.
The first course module will run until October 23, and another three are scheduled in 2016 and 2017.
Trang enters 2nd round of Kawasaki
Local favourite and No 1 seed Vu Thi Trang booked a place in the second round of the Kawasaki Viet Nam International Series 2015 in Da Nang yesterday, Oct 1st, beating Indonesia's Linda Agnes 21-10, 21-4 in just 23 minutes.
Trang's next rival will be Ong Ren-Ne of Singapore, who crushed Viet Nam's Tran Thi Linh Giang in the first round.
Trang is aiming to defend her singles and doubles titles at this year's event, which has total prize money of US$5,000.
The event has attracted nearly 150 players from Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Malaysia and Thailand.
HCM City to host athletics event
Ho Chi Minh City is getting ready to host the 390 athletes who will compete in the 2015 Viet Nam National Athletics Championship, to start on October 9.
The event is Viet Nam's top athletics championship, which means athletes from 44 localities across the country, including star players on national teams such as Nguyen Thi Huyen, Nguyen Thanh Phuc, Nguyen Thi Oanh, will compete for national status.
Organised annually by Viet Nam Athletics Federation, the championships will be an important chance to evaluate the athletes for selection to join the 2016 Summer Olympics in Brazil.
Sanatech volleyball Cup begins soon
Ten volleyball teams across Viet Nam will travel to the southern province of Ben Tre to compete in the 2015 Sanatech volleyball Cup from October 3-10.
Of the four women teams – Cao Su (Rubber) Binh Phuoc, VTV Binh Dien Long An, Quang Ninh and Tan Binh Ho Chi Minh City – the VTV team is the tournament favourite. The team will rely on their powerhouse players, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hoa, Ha Ngoc Diem and Tran Thi Thanh Thuy.
The six registered men's teams - Ben Tre, Duc Long Gia Lai, Becamex Army Corps 4, Long An, Maseco HCMC and Sanest Khanh Hoa – represent the best volleyball teams in Viet Nam.
Maseco HCMC are the defending champions but have their work cut out for them with the Becamex Army Corps 4 team, who are currently in fourth place at the national volleyball championship - Hung Vuong Cup 2015.
Dat wins at table tennis tournament
Le Tien Dat of Viet Nam booked his spot in the third round of the International Table Tennis Federation Asian Championships in Pattaya, Thailand.
Dat beat Alraisi Asad of Oman 11-4, 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 in the men's singles event on Wednesday, Sept 30.
Dat will next meet Jiang Tianyi of Hong Kong.
Dinh Quang Linh withdrew from a match against Lam Chee Yin of Malaysia.
In the men's doubles duo Nguyen Anh Tu and Tran Tuan Quynh advanced to the third round after beating Al-Mohannadi Ahmad and Li Ping 3-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-8, 1-11.
They will face Chiang Hung-Chieh and Chuang Chih-Yuan from Chinese Taipei in the next round.
Vietnamese interest in the women's doubles has ended after Phan Hoang Tuong Giang and Nguyen Thi Viet Linh lost 11-7, 11-4, 10-12, 11-4 to Lee Zion and Yang Haeun of South Korea.
The Asian championships has featured more than 280 athletes competing in seven categories in which China have already won the men's and women's team events.
The tournament will close on Saturday.
