Viet Nam's only goal was made by halfback Nguyen Huu Dung in the 84th minute.
The match against Thailand was a warm-up game before the commencement of the qualifiers of the Asian U-23 Football Championship in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Viet Nam is scheduled to fly to Kuala Lumpur to kick off the continental tournament on Friday against Malaysia.
Ha Noi women trounce Ha Nam in national women's football
Defending champions Ha Noi 1 defeated Phong Phu Ha Nam 5-0 in the sixth round of the National Women's Football Championships in HCM City on Saturday.
Despite dominating the first half of the match, Ha Nam failed to score any goals.
After halftime, Nguyen Thi Xuyen helped Ha Noi open the score in the 56th minute, with Xuyen doubling the score for the team only one minute later.
Following these goals, Ha Nam seemed to have lost the will to compete.
In the 67th minute, Do Thi Yen easily got the better of Ha Nam's goalkeeper Nguyen Thi Ngoc, bringing the score to 3-0.
Pham Hai Yen then made two more goals for Ha Noi in the 72nd and 90th minutes.
Bui The Anh wins national marathon race in Vinh Phuc
Bui The Anh won the National Marathon Tournament organised by the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper in Vinh Yen City, Vinh Phuc Province, on Saturday.

Competing for the Military Team, Anh finished first with a time of 2:26:11, followed by Hoang Nguyen Thanh of Binh Phuoc and Nguyen Van Long, an individual competitor.
On the women's side, Hoang Thi Thanh of the Military Team won with a time of 2:52:48. The runners-up were Lam Thi Thuy of Binh Phuoc and Leo Thi Tinh of Son La.
In addition, Khanh Hoa emerged as the victor in the team event, with Ha Noi and Vinh Phuc taking second and third positions, respectively.
As many as 218 athletes from across the country participated in the 56th chapter of the event, which offered total prize money of US$7,500.
Olympic Run Day launched nationwide
A ceremony was held on March 22 in Hanoi to launch the 2015 Olympic Run for All People’s Health to mark the Vietnam Sport Day (March 27, 1946).
Opening the ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hoang Tuan Anh said the late President Ho Chi Minh’s call for all people to exercise to stay healthy is still relevant today.
According to Le Hong Son, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, more than 600,000 people from hundreds of communes and wards in Hanoi gathered to run in their localities on response to the event.
Right after the ceremony, delegates and local residents ran around Hoan Kiem Lake in an exciting atmosphere.
Millions of people in 63 provinces and cities across the country also joined similar activities.
The Olympic Run Day aims to encourage people to do physical exercise regularly to stay fit and healthy.
