Vietnam to host tennis play-off matches versus Sri Lanka
The International Tennis Federation has chosen Vietnam as the host country for the Asia-Oceania Zonal Group-II relegation play-off matches between Vietnam and Sri Lanka, which are slated for April 4-6.
After success in the Davis Cup 2013, the Vietnamese team was promoted to Group II.
Meanwhile, the Sri Lankans have played in Group II since 2012 and stand at 62 nd position in the world rankings, 10 places higher than Vietnam. The team lost to the Philippines earlier this month in their first round tie in Colombia.
The loser will be demoted to Group III in 2015.
According to Nguyen QuocKy, Vice President and Secretary-General of the Vietnam Tennis Federation, the Vietnamese team will gather its strongest players for the matches.
Thousand to join fun run to be held in HCM City
More than a thousand people are expected to lace up their running shoes for RMIT Vietnam's third annual Fun Run on March 9 in HCM City's District 7.
The five-kilometre course starts at 8am at the RMIT Saigon South Sports Field.
The event, which aims to create a healthy activity to burn off everyone's excess energy after a long Tet (Lunar New Year) holiday, will involve lots of other activities on the day including a fun warm-up session, live entertainment and lucky-draw prizes.
It is open to all students and staff of RMIT University Vietnam as well as students from other local universities and high schools.
Runners can register at sgs.sports.recreation@rmit.edu.vn between February 24 and March 7.
Bouldering competition aims to expand
VietClimb Gym will host its fourth National Bouldering Competition on Saturday aiming to expand the climbing community and promote the sport,
The organisers hope to give to everyone a better understanding of bouldering as a sport, and at the same, provide climbers with challenging climbs to create a fun and memorable competition.
The competition, which will be divided into categories for men and women in novice, intermediate and expert events, will take place at VietClimb Gym, 40 Lane 76 An Duong Street, from 9am-6pm. Several prizes will be awarded including a round-trip to Singapore for the next bouldering competition.
