Table tennis event begins in Ha Noi
Nearly 300 athletes will compete in the Ha Noi Open Table Tennis Tournament set to begin tomorrow in the capital city.
The event includes several tiers by skill-level from amateur to professional. Competitors will take part in men's and women's singles, doubles and mixed doubles disciplines.
The finals are scheduled on Sunday at Trinh Hoai Duc Gymnasium and will be aired live on Ha Noi Television.
The tournament, which is also known as the Ha Noi Moi Newspaper Cup, is free for fans.

Manh's contract with SLNA ends at the end of 2016, but the club leaders convinced him to sign another contract till 2018.
According to a source, the transfer fee is about VND5 billion (US$227,000).
Twenty-three-year-old Manh is the number one goalie of Viet Nam's national football team.
Several key players of the SLNA such as midfielders Ngo Hoang Thinh and Nguyen Quang Tinh left the club in the recent past.
National open golf tournament to kick off
More than 100 golfers will take part in the National open golf tournament to be held in Sky Lake Resort & Golf course in Ha Noi on November 26.
Athletes will compete in three categories: national amateur group, open professional group and international team group.
According to the head of the organising board Nguyen Van Hao, the event's best athletes will earn tickets to compete in Ho Tram Open tournament next month and the final round of the TPBank World Amateur Championship 2016.
The event, which is co-organised by the Viet Nam Golf Association and TP Bank, will end on November 29.

VUS HCM City's Tai clocked a top speed of 42.957km per hour during the 117km stage from HCM City to Dong Xoai Town in Binh Phuoc Province, which he completed with a timing of 2:36.26.
Nguyen Tuan Hoai of Domesco Dong Thap 1 and Nguyen Hoang Sang of ADC-Vinh Long Television came second and third, respectively.
Today, the cyclists will compete in the second stage from Dong Xoai to Gia Nghia Town in Dak Nong Province.
Seventy-five cyclists from 15 strong teams nationwide are participating in the event, hosted by the Voice of HCM City radio.
The cyclists will compete across seven stages, going through the provinces of Binh Phuoc, Dak Lakm Khanh Hoa and Lam Dong.
The tournament aims to mark the 75th anniversary of the Nam Ky Uprising (November 23) and the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Viet Nam People's Army (December 22).
