Miura adds Truong to U23 squad

Coach Toshyia Miura added midfielder Luong Xuan Truong of Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) into the national U23 team yesterday (Dec 1) for the final round of the 2016 Asian U23 Football Championship in Qatar.

Out of the 30-member team, HAGL contributed seven players including Nguyen Cong Phuong and Nguyen Phong Hong Duy.

The 20-year-old Truong is praised for his vision, passing and free-kick ability in the International U21 Football Tournament which wrapped up in HCM City on Sunday.

Truong was called up to the U23 training camp in February for 2016 AFC U23 Championship qualification but was returned to his club later as the injury he suffered prior the training was much more serious than expected.

The team gathered yesterday (Dec 1) Ha Noi and they will have three friendly matches against Japanese clubs before Miura shortlists his team to 23 and leaves for Qatar.

Binh Duong sign contract with Nsi Amougou

Becamex Binh Duong have signed a one-year contract with 1.90m-tall striker Christian Jose Nsi Amougou of Cameroon for the national premier league next year.

The 26-year-old player, who played for Dong Nai Club, is fast and good at scoring goals.

The contract's value wasn't revealed.

Binh Duong has signed contracts with many players of late to defend the title they won at this year's event.

Binh Duong and Ha Noi T&T have secured their berths at the AFC Champions League next year.

However, V.League 1 defending champions Binh Duong will automatically compete in the group round, while V.League runner-up Ha Noi will have to take part in the play-offs to enter the group round.

Binh Duong won four top titles in 2007, 2008, 2014 and 2015. They also took part in the group stage of the 2008 and 2015 AFC Champions League events.

Binh Duong host Boeung Ket Angkor

Becamex Binh Duong will play Cambodian champions Boeung Ket Angkor in the semi-finals of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship in Ha Noi on Sunday.

Boeung Ket Angkor defeated Yangon United of Myanmar and Toyota Laos to make it to the semi-final round. The V.League 1 winners, Becamex Binh Duong, are the defending champions of the event.

The match winner will play Thai rival Buriam United FC in the final on December 12 in Bangkok.

VFF receives Asian football awards

The Viet Nam Football Federation received two awards from the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on their annual Award Night on Sunday in New Delhi, India.

The federation is one of three winning the AFC Dream Asia Award after being named the winner of the AFC President Recognition Awards for Grassroots Football in the Developing section.

During the night, the AFC also named Ahmed Khalil of the United Arab Emirates the best Asian male player of the year while the honours for the women have not been released.

Other awards are best coach, best club, best football players and best national team.
