Recently, at the Cultural House of Dong Xuan Center in Berlin, the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany coordinated with the Vietnamese community to solemnly host the 2026 Lunar New Year (Tet) celebration, in an atmosphere both dignified and rich in national identity.

Among those attending were Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh and his spouse, along with representatives of various embassy departments; Bodo Ramelow, Vice President of the German Bundestag; Martin Schaefer, Head of Lichtenberg district; representatives from more than 20 embassies and foreign diplomatic missions; officials from the German Federal Foreign Office, Berlin city authorities and Lichtenberg district; and around 700 Vietnamese residents representing associations, businesses and media outlets.

In his remarks, Ambassador Nguyen Dac Thanh affirmed that the Vietnamese community in Germany continues to serve as an effective bridge of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Federal Republic of Germany. He noted that the community has left a strong mark as a dynamic and well-integrated group, making positive contributions to local socio-economic life and thereby building a solid social foundation for bilateral relations.

The ambassador particularly emphasized Berlin and Lichtenberg district’s decision to rename a dock “Dong Xuan” as recognition of the role and successful integration of the Vietnamese community.

On the occasion of the New Year, he expressed sincere gratitude and respectfully called on the German Federal Government, ministries and Berlin authorities to continue supporting the community’s deeper integration and greater contributions.

In the warmth of spring, the ambassador wished for Vietnam - Germany relations to continue flourishing; extended New Year wishes of health, happiness and success to all guests; and conveyed hopes for a united and prosperous Vietnamese community in Germany, with every family enjoying peace and well-being.

Vice President of the German Bundestag Bodo Ramelow praised the Vietnamese community in Germany as “ambassadors of cooperation and friendship.”

He shared that the Year of the Horse also symbolizes Niedersachsen state, his birthplace, and expressed his delight at joining the community Tet celebration, wishing everyone a joyful and auspicious New Year.

Nguyen Xuan Thinh, Acting President of the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Germany, affirmed that the Vietnamese community remains united, proactive in integration and respectful of local laws.

He acknowledged the attention and support of German authorities toward the community’s life and integration process, while also appreciating the role of the Vietnamese Embassy and the close coordination of member associations in building an increasingly strong community.

On the occasion of the New Year, he extended wishes of peace and prosperity to Vietnamese people across Germany.

Outstanding cultural performances and a traditional feast featuring dishes imbued with the flavors of Tet from home created a lively and meaningful atmosphere for the celebration.

The Community Tet Binh Ngo 2026 was not only an occasion to welcome the New Year, but also a vivid testament to the cohesion, maturity and deep integration of the Vietnamese community in the Federal Republic of Germany, contributing to the strengthening and development of the ever-closer Vietnam - Germany friendship.
