Stamps issue to greet Year of the Buffalo 2021.
Designed by painter Nguyen Quang Vinh, the stamp set includes two stamp samples and one bloc.
The first sample, valued VND4,000, features a father buffalo carrying a basket of fruits and dong leaves, which are used to wrap chung (square glutinous rice) cake – an indispensable dish of Vietnamese people during Tet (lunar New Year) festival, on his back. The buffalo is painted with cheerful face while running in a flower field.
The second sample, valued VND15,000, illustrates a mother buffalo and her child dressed in yellow apricot clothes. The mother buffalo is carrying a tray of fruits on her back while her child is excitedly running along to welcome the spring.
Notably, when they are placed closer together, the tails of the father and mother buffalos will create a heart shape, conveying wishes for love and happiness in the New Year.
Meanwhile, the VND38,000 bloc portrays two trays of five fruits, which are Vietnamese people’s offerings to their ancestors in New Year celebration, with a branch of peach flowers blossoming in the top.
The stamp set is available on the public postal network from December 12, 2020, to June 30, 2022. Nhan Dan
