VietNamNet Bridge – On the next to last day of the 2012 Paralympics, swimmer Vo Thanh Tung broke the Asian record for the men’s 100m event, with 1.19.83 minutes.

Vietnam finished its competition at the 2012 Paralympics with 11 athletes in three events: track and field, swimming and weightlifting. Four athletes are highly appreciated for their performances.



Weightlifter Nguyen Thi Hong nearly won the bronze medal for the
women’s 40kg event. However, the host athlete Newson Zoe was unexpectedly
granted the medal though her weight was 0.29kg less than Hong’s. However,
this is Hong’s best results until now.


Swimmer Thanh Tung broke the Asian record in the qualifier round for the

men’s 100m swimming, with 1.21.94 minutes. In the final round, he shortened

the time to 1.19.83 minutes. He ranked 6th but Tung’s achievement is highly appreciated.




Javelin thrower Nguyen Thi Hai ranked 4th/18 with 851 points and 25.37m.
Though she did not win any medal, this is also Hai’s best results until now.





Weightlifter Nguyen Binh An raised 163kg in the men’s under 52kg event,
ranking 4th out of 11 athletes.
