The 2011 awards for Information Technology (IT) Applications in State Agencies were granted to ten of the 57 registered units yesterday at a ceremony in Hanoi held by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC).




These first annual awards aimed to honour the most efficient IT models in State agencies at all levels and replicate them across the country. They are also expected to encourage and promote IT to facilitate State management and provide online information and public services to citizens and businesses, and accelerate the development of e-government in Vietnam.

The Ministry of Education and Training was honoured for the most efficient IT applications at a ministerial level agency, while the Party Central Committee Commission for Communication and Education won the award for the most efficient IT applications at a central socio-political organisation.

Da Nang city and the Da Nang municipal Department of Home Affairs were recognised as the city/province and local department with the most efficient IT applications.

The Bidding Management Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment was given the award for the most efficient IT applications at a ministerial department, while the most efficient IT application award for a district agency went to the Lao Cai municipal People’s Committee.

The MIC web portal won the award for the ministerial agency website providing the most useful information, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was recognised for offering the most efficient online public services.

The central province of Thua Thien-Hue's web portal was awarded the provincial/city government portal providing the most useful information, while An Giang province was acknowledged for having the best provincial/city government web portal offering the most efficient online public services.
