VietNamNet Bridge - The Prime Minister has approved the proposal submitted by the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA) on a nine-day holiday for the upcoming Lunar New Year festival (Tet).
State employees will be off work from January 21-29, 2012, but they will have to work on February 4 (Saturday) to compensate for the day-off on January 27.
The time adjustment will give employees some extra time for travelling and celebrations, while giving a slight boost to the economy through extra consumption, says the MOLISA.
The adjustment would not be applicable to businesses that don’t follow fixed days-off on Saturday and Sunday.
