The terracotta statue was created by Vietnamese sculptor Pham Van Hang.

According to director of the institute Hoang Dao Cuong, the event aims to commemorate Kasik’s contribution to Vietnam as a relics restoring specialist.

Kazik came to Vietnam and embarked on the preservation and restoration of My Son Sanctuary in 1980 when the towers within the relic site were in urgent need of protection. After his funds ran out, he returned to Poland and raised money to expand the project at the site which is now recognised as world cultural heritage.

He also contributed to making the Complex of Hue Monuments into world cultural heritage, and the preserving of Hoi An Ancient Town in the central province of Quang Nam.

A statue of Kazik was installed in a park named after him on Tran Phu Street, Hoi An in 2017 to mark his 20th death anniversary.
