New power sources, with total capacities of more than 2,000MW, were expected to be connected to the national grid although tentative amounts of imported electricity would remain high.
During the first half of the year, the total capacity of both generated and imported electricity came to around 52.4 billion kWh, an increase of 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.
