VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam would be able to secure a steady supply of electricity over the next six months as long as there were no major irregularities, according to the Ministry of Trade and Industry's Electricity Regulation Department.

The levels at hydroelectric reservoirs were expected to increase as the country entered the rainy season, leading to greater power generation capacity.

New thermoelectric plants, which had recently come into effect, successfully troubleshot, increasing operational reliability.

New power sources, with total capacities of more than 2,000MW, were expected to be connected to the national grid although tentative amounts of imported electricity would remain high.

During the first half of the year, the total capacity of both generated and imported electricity came to around 52.4 billion kWh, an increase of 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.
