VietNamNet Bridge – A man who has 22 children, a 105-year-old man has nearly 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a woman who had 17 children in 23 years are among the most special families in Vietnam.

1. The man who has the highest number of children



Mr. Phan Van Tieng in Nhon Thuan 1 village of Chau Thanh A district in the southern province of Hau Giang has up to 22 children. He is proud to be the man who has the highest number of children in his province.

At the age of 82, he is still sound in mind and body. His eldest son is Mr. Phan Van Cang, 58 and the youngest son is Net Em, 29.

He said that during holidays and death anniversaries of his relatives, his big house has not enough space for his nearly 100 descendants.

Some childless people came to see him to ask for his secret to have many children and to stroke his hand to get luck from him. He warmly welcomed them but asking him about secret to have many children, he only smiled and said: “Your question is odd. I’m a rural man. I do not know about secrets to enhance men’s vitality. Perhaps I and my children have natural association with each other in our previous incarnation.”

2. The 105-year-old man with nearly 100 grandchildren and great-grandchildren



Mr. Dinh Thu in La Chau village in Hoa Vang district of the central city of Da nang has 12 children, including 7 son and 5 daughters. All of them are over 70 years old.

Mr. Thu has nearly 100 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He is still sound in mind to remember all of them, their ages, and their personality.

Mr. Thu is proud and happy to have a good wife, Ms. Dang Thi Cam, 85, who has been with him for nearly 70 years. “When I was a soldier who fought at the front, she was at home to take care of my parent and my children. She also did farm work and performed community tasks. She worked very hard but she has never complained just a single word,” Mr. Thu said.

About his secret to live to a great age, Mr. Thu said: “There is nothing worthy to be secret. You only need to eat and drink in moderation, to do exercise in the early morning and the afternoon and to have an abundant life of joy. But without my wife, perhaps I would not be healthy like this!”

3. The woman who delivered 17 children in 23 years



Ms. Phan Thi Tinh, 77, in Dien Bien Street of Vinh Yen city, in the northern province of Vinh Phuc would win the record for the woman who has the highest number of children in his province or even in Vietnam, if such a record is presented.

Tinh was born in a poor family with 9 children. She had to work at the very young age. She got married to Mr. Tran Bach Van in 1955. In 1956 she gave birth to her first daughter. After that, the woman annually delivered a baby. Her youngest child was born in 1979. Within 23 years, she was pregnant 17 times and gave birth safely. Of her 17 children, the 14th and 15th children died very young.

Tinh and her husband had to seek rice for each meal. She said that before each meal, her children had to form a line, depending on their height. The taller they were, the more rice they were supplied because they had to work harder.

At present, Tinh’s children have grown up and have their own careers.

4. The shortest family



The family of Mr. Luu Quon in Ba Ren village, in Que Son district of the central province of Quang Nam, has eight members. All of them are dwarves.

The tallest member, Quon’s wife – Ms. Pham Thi Dien who is already 83 years old – is only 1.33m. His children are from 1.1m to 1.29m tall, including Mr. Luu Quang, 57 – 1.3m, Mr. Luu Trinh, 47 - 1.29m, Mr. Luu Tam, 39 - 1.27m, Mr. Luu Muoi, 37 – 1.25m, Mr. Luu Hai, 36 – 1.1m and Ms. Luu Thi Hoa, 34 – 1.1m. Mr. Quon, 83, is the shortest – 1.08m. His legs are deformed at birth.

The family is struggling with their lives. A well-fed and dressed life is their dream.
