The performance will be staged under a cooperative agreement between the Ho Chi Minh City Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO) and the Goethe Institute in Vietnam.

The opera will be held under the baton of conductor Tran Nhat Minh and arranged by European theatre director David Hermann, who was previously responsible for the arrangement of Mozart’s Die Zauberflote (The magic flute) and the recent Die Freischutz (The marksman) for the HBSO.

The songs will be sung in German while the dialogue of the play will be in Vietnamese. The costumes were designed by widely admired fashion designer Quynh Paris.

The Opera ‘The Bat’ was officially launched for the first time in Vienna in 1874, becoming one of the most popular operas in the world.

Previously, the opera was introduced to Ho Chi Minh City audiences in August last year and it received great applause from concert goers.
