On the morning of December 15, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department officially launched its high-intensity campaign to crack down on crime and ensure public security ahead of the Lunar New Year (Tet) 2025.

Speaking at the event, Lieutenant General Le Hong Nam, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police, emphasized the positive progress in combating crime, which has led to a decrease in illegal activities across various domains.

Efforts to suppress street crimes have yielded significant results:

Theft-related crimes have decreased by 11.11%, with a 92.05% success rate in solving cases.

Snatch-and-grab crimes have dropped by 26.92%, with a 91.61% case-solving rate.

Economic crimes and smuggling operations have also been targeted, with 1,357 cases involving 1,467 individuals successfully dismantled.

The two-month campaign, running from December 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025, will prioritize combating five key types of crimes that pose ongoing risks: Drug-related crimes; Loan sharking and illegal lending; Street crimes; Cybercrimes disrupting social order; Organized crime with foreign elements

Ho Chi Minh City Police will take proactive measures and adopt flexible strategies to prevent and tackle crimes, ensuring no surprises or disruptions to public safety.

Duong Ngoc Hai, Deputy Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, expressed appreciation and encouragement to the officers involved in the campaign.

Following the launch ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City Police will intensify patrols to deter crimes, while traffic police will ensure orderly traffic flow during the busy Tet season.
