In Vietnam, the issue of gender equality and empowerment of women and girls has been receiving great attention from the Party, State, departments, unions, and the entire society.

Implementing the Law on Gender Equality 2006, Vietnam has issued many specific programs and projects on gender equality and gender-based violence prevention and control to enhance women's empowerment.

According to the Vietnam Women's Union, the proportion of female deputies to the 15th National Assembly reached 30.26%, 3.46% higher than the 14th National Assembly and the highest since the 5th National Assembly (currently ranked 62nd/ 190 countries); The rate of female wage workers is 48.3%. The rate of women-owned businesses reached 26.5%, contributing to Vietnam's women's progress index in business ranking 9th out of 58 countries; ranked 2nd among the 6 Southeast Asian countries studied.

With unremitting efforts, Vietnam is recognized by the world as one of 10 countries that have successfully implemented sustainable development goal number 5 on promoting gender equality and empowering women and girls. However, according to experts, Vietnam is still facing many challenges in gender equality.

The rapid change in socio-economic conditions, especially the development of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is posing new difficulties and challenges for women around the world and in Vietnam.

Therefore, it is necessary to promote the empowerment of women to fully participate in all fields and at all levels of socio-economic activities to establish sustainable and equitable social relations. than. The following solutions can be suggested to improve the effectiveness of women's empowerment in our country today:

Firstly, it is necessary to strengthen widespread propaganda about gender equality laws in general; about the legal and legitimate rights and interests of women in particular so that everyone understands that these are practical issues that, if understood correctly and implemented well, will benefit the family, society and country.

Second, there needs to be separate policies on women's political participation. Recently, the proportion of women participating in politics in our country has increased compared to previous years, but it is still not commensurate with women's potential. Therefore, it is necessary to have a plan to regularly train and foster female officials and civil servants before and after the elections for National Assembly and People's Council deputies. Having a separate policy for women is not a priority, but must pay attention to gender functions to effectively implement gender equality.

Third, bring gender equality policies into the family and society by encouraging men to share housework with women and encouraging women to participate in political activities. Strictly and promptly handle acts of abuse and violation of the dignity and life of women and children such as: violence, abuse, maltreatment, sexual abuse... in family and society.

After all, to move towards an equal society, where women and girls are treated fairly and are given the same rights and opportunities to develop as men, experts say, it is necessary to strongly implement Socio-economic policies aim to improve gender equality, enhance women's status in society, and gradually overcome the ideology of "respecting men and looking down on women".

At the same time, it is necessary to build and promulgate a social security system and economic welfare projects focusing on women and girls; Strengthen communication and education about gender and gender equality with appropriate content and forms from early on to provide knowledge and skills to implement gender equality for the younger generation.
