Update news sugar import
The inadequate supply has left the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) with no choice but to call for bidders for the additional import quotas of 200,000 tonnes.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade has decided to allocate tariff quotas for 113,000 tons of imported sugar via auction.
Vietnamese sugar refineries have been trying to export sugar as much as possible to avoid the direct confrontation with the smuggled imports from Thailand. Meanwhile, Vietnam plans to import 700,000 tons of sugar this year.
VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Sugar and Sugar Cane Association (VSSA) has protested against the plan by Hoang Anh Gia Lai group to sell 30,000 tons of sugar it made in Laos to the Bien Hoa Sugar JSC.
