VietNamNet Bridge - A new destination with reasonable prices is the island of Binh Ba, in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa province.
It is a small island with a wavy, windy barrier wall facing Cam Ranh Bay. Many years ago, the island had many lobstermen so it is famous as the "lobster island". Recently, tourist services have developed.
Because this is pristine island, there are many beautiful beaches with white sand, clear water, blue sky...for those who love nature and calmness.
There are about 700 households with 5,000 people. On the island, there are homestays and hostels for groups of tourists. Contact to book and negotiate rental prices for a stove, bowl, spoon, and other itmes to to have a seafood barbecue party. Local people are friendly and hospitable.
Binh Ba market has features of a fishing village, with delicious and cheap snacks including flan, barbecue, sweets. In the early morning, you can go to the market to buy fresh seafood and local people will process it for you. Squid is sweet, thick and delicious.
The top dishes on the island are grilled sea urchin, Vu Nang snail, Mat Trang snail, and Muc Mot Nang (squid).
How to get there
From Ho Chi Minh City, you can take high quality passenger cars of Phuong Trang, Cuc Tung or Mai Linh transport companies to the Cam Rang Station and then take a train to Nha Trang Station and catch a bus to Cam Ranh. If you want to save time, you can fly straight to Cam Ranh Airport.
To go to the island, the boat on Ba Ngoi Port (5km away from Cam Ranh Station) runs four trips a day, departing from the port at 7:00, 10:00, 13:00 and 16:00 and arriving at 5:00, 9:00, 12:00 and 16:30 each day.
