Trinh Van Quyet’s Rolls-Royce Ghost

According to the Bank of Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), this bank seized a mortgaged asset of Quyet - a 5-seat Rolls-Royce car owned by FLC Faros (ROS) - for debt settlement.

The Rolls-Royce Ghost belongs to the first generation bearing Series I symbol, which was manufactured in the UK in 2011. It was priced at roughly VND16 billion in 2013 and now about VND10 billion.

This car was owned by Trinh Van Quyet, former president of FLC Faros and president of FLC. Quyet has been detained in an investigation of his manipulating the stock market and swindling to appropriate assets. 

Nguyen Phuong Hang’s 3 Rolls-Royces

Hang, general director of Dai Nam Group, is in detention for investigation for her alleged crime of "abusing democratic freedoms to infringe upon the interests of the State, lawful rights and interests of organizations and/or citizens".

Hang is the owner of three Rolls-Royces, including a Rolls-Royce Phantom EWB with the number plate 61A-00789, which means prosperity and eternity. In 2013, this was the first Phantom in Binh Duong province and the second in Vietnam. The first Phantom was imported in 2009. In Vietnam, Phantom cars are distributed for VND25-30 billion.

After selling the Rolls-Royce Phantom, Hang and her husband bought a Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II, which has a full-tax price of VND30 billion.

Hang’s collection of luxury cars also includes a Rolls-Royce Wraith, priced at VND40 billion. This was the car usually used by Hang.

Nguyen Duc Kien’s Rolls-Royce Phantom ‘Year of Dragon’

Kien used to be a famous name in the banking and football worlds. Kien made the news in 2012 for being one of 33 owners of Rolls-Royce Phantom ‘Year of Dragon’ in Asia. At that time, to own the car with the number plate ‘88’, which meant prosperity, Kien had to pay VND40 billion.

However, a short time after buying the supercar, in May 2013 Kien was prosecuted for swindling to appropriate assets, and deliberately violating the State’s regulations on economic management, causing serious consequences, as well as evading tax and doing illegal business. 

The total losses caused by Kien and his accomplices amounted to VND1.695 trillion.

Le Thanh Than’s Rolls-Royce Phantom Oriental Sun

Than is the owner of Muong Thanh Hotel series and a realtor. He was the owner of Rolls-Royce Phantom Oriental Sun, which was imported from the UK in 2014 at the price of VND43 billion, the second most expensive Rolls-Royce in Vietnam at that time.

In 2019, Than was prosecuted for defrauding customers. The investigation agency found that he obtained an illegal profit of VND481 billion.

Duong Thi Bach Diep’s Rolls-Royce Phantom 

In early 2008, Diep, director of Diep Bach Duong Real Estate Company, stirred up the public when buying a Rolls-Royce Phantom valued at $2.3 million. This was the first Rolls-Royce Phantom directly ordered to Vietnam. The number plate was unique - 77L-7777. Some people cited feng shui theory and said the number plate with all numbers 7 brought bad luck to the owner. 

In 2019, Diep and several former leaders of HCM City were arrested and accused of committing fraud related to Agribank. In 2021, she was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Khai Silk’s first Phantom

In 2007, Hoang Khai, or Khai Silk told the public he spent $1 million to import the first Rolls-Royce to Vietnam, the most expensive car at that time.

Ten years ago, Khai’s business was discovered selling Chinese silk-made products under a made-in-Vietnam label. The Khai Silk brand was then boycotted by consumers and all Khai Silk shops had to shut down. In August 2018, the car was offered for sale at VND9 billion.

The Rolls-Royce of well-known seafood exporter

Pham Thi Dieu Hien, the owner of Bianfishco, a well-known seafood processor in Can Tho, spent VND25 billion to buy a Rolls-Royce. However, as her company operated at losses, Hien had to sell her assets, including the Rolls-Royce, to save the company.
