VietNamNet Bridge – Besides the popular 3D TVs priced at 15-20 million dong, the high class products worth hundreds of million dong have been selling well in Vietnam.
3D TV market getting boisterous

As the concept of 3D TV has become more familiar to Vietnamese people, the 3D TV market has also become more bustling with different kinds of products imported and distributed by enterprises offering a wide range of choices to clients.

In Vietnam, the 3D TVs priced at around 20 million dong are listed among low cost products. Besides the popular TVs, more luxurious products have also been available on the Hanoi’s market, provided by well known distributors Audio Hoang Hai, Pico Plaza, Hai Tau Plaza or Media Mart.

The super-expensive TVs are selling at tens or hundreds of millions dong, or tens times higher than the prices of normal 3D TVs).

According to Ta Huy Hung, an executive of Audio Hoang Hai, there are many products for clients’ choices. Sony 3D LED Bravia KDL - 46HX925, or Samsung 3D LED UA55D7000LR are selling at a little higher than 50 million dong, while Samsung Plasma 3D 64D8000 64 inch and Samsung 3D LED UA55D8000SR are priced at 70-80 million dong.

Especially, connoisseurs can choose the products worth nearly 100 million dong, namely Sony 3D LED Bravia KDL-60NX720, Sharp 3D LED Aquos LC60LE925M or 3D LED Samsung UA60D8000-60.

However, the products worth 100 million dong still are not the most expensive 3D TVs nowadays. Some home appliance centers in Hanoi are now displaying the 3D TVs which have the sale prices of 130-150 million dong.

A Plasma 3D Panasonic TH-P65VT20K Full HD, for example, has the posted price at 125 million dong. Especially, Pico Plaza and Media Mart now sell LED 3D Toshiba 55ZL800V - 55 inch Full HD 400 Hz at 139 million dong, though, as advertised by them, the TV has the official manufacturer’s price at 150 million dong.

According to Pham Quoc Uy, the business manager of Hai Tau Plaza, a distributor, the current prices of hundreds of million dong represent the sharp price falls of 10-20 million dong from the prices seen at the same period of 2010. He said that many new models have appeared on the market with competitive prices.

A source said that Vietnamese connoisseurs are in no way inferior to foreign clients. The source has affirmed that 3D 64 inch TVs manufactured by Sony, which has the sky high price of 200 million dong have appeared in Vietnam. However, the products are still far from becoming popular. Only some connoisseurs have the TVs by placing orders directly with foreign distributors.

Technology? Not so important!

Hung from Audio Hoang Hai said that the super-expensive 3D TVs, manufactured by Sony, Sharp or Panasonic, which are considered the products reserved for high income earners, have been selling very well at Audio Hoang Hai, even though it is not the high TV sale season. The peak seasons always come in the last months of years, near Tet holiday, or the days when people expect big events like the World Cup.

“I can say for sure that the technologies of different super-expensive TVs are nearly the same. The prices of the products, higher or lower, only depend on the sizes of the screens and the brands of the products,” Uy said.

According to experts, there are two main technologies used for the 3D TVs now available in Vietnam (LED 3D, LCD 3D and Plasma 3D TVs), including the one using active 3D glass which have the sale prices of millions dong, and the one using passive 3D glass, which allows viewers to enjoy the images with the glass with reasonable prices. The products have been launched into the market by Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, and LG.

However, high income earners now do not care much about which technology the 3D TVs utilize. They just want to buy the TVs, which are expensive and have suitable screen sizes.
