VietNamNet Bridge – An expert swimmer who had won many awards in the southern province of Tra Vinh was reported to have drowned in HCM City on Saturday, April 6.
After completing a scene examination and an autopsy, local police handed the body of the victim, Truong Minh Tam, to his family. Tam, born in 1998, was a native of Tra Vinh.
At around 5pm on Sunday, Tam joined some boys to bathe in the canal in Long Binh Ward, District 9. After a while the others became aware of Tam’s absence. They dived to search for him, to no avail.
A local rescue team was alerted to the disappearance, and divers were sent to the scene. They found Tam’s body after one hour.
According to the victim’s family, Tam was an avid swimmer who had won many competitions in Tra Vinh. He had come to Ho Chi Minh City to visit his brother, who works at a restaurant in District 9.
