VietNamNet Bridge – Swimmer Hoang Quy Phuoc finished the men’s 100m butterfly with a time of 53.65 seconds at the Malaysia Open Swimming Tournament, exceeding the criterion to participate in the 2012 Olympics in London.

The Olympic criterion is 54.19 seconds for the men’s 100m butterfly.
This is the first Vietnamese swimmer who will compete at the upcoming Olympics.
Two Vietnamese swimmers, Vo Thai Nguyen and Pham Thanh Nguyen, also did very well at the Malaysia Open. They won the tickets to the World Swimming Championship--men’s 800m freestyle, which is considered as the qualifier round for the 2012 Olympics.
Giang added that besides swimming; Vietnam is able to take tickets to the 2012 Olympics with athletics, boxing and taekwondo.
