Truyen Kieu (the Tale of Kieu) was recognised as 'The literary work having the most national records in the world' by the World Records Union on December 2, according to the Vietnam Book of Records (Vietkings).

The record was nominated by the Vietkings and was approved by the World Records Union on the occasion of the 250th birthday anniversary of the great poet Nguyen Du and the celebration of his title recognised by UNESCO as a World Cultural Celebrity.

According to the World Records Union, the Tale of Kieu is an epic poem in Vietnamese written by Nguyen Du and is widely regarded as the most significant work of Vietnamese literature with 3,254 verses, written in Luc bat (six-eight) meter.

The World Records Union also stated that the Tale of Kieu has been translated into 20 languages with 35 versions and the masterpiece set 27 Vietnamese Records over 10 years.

National records set by the Tale of Kieu are in the forms of books, translation, sculptures, silk paintings, choir, calligraphy, and theatre among others.

The World Records Union's certificate is scheduled to be granted the Vietkings and Management Board of Nguyen Du Vestige Area in Ha Tinh in March 2016.
