VietNamNet Bridge – After a successful show in Hanoi in late May 2011, pianist Pho An My will give the second show in Hanoi on August 22, and then another show in HCM City on August 31.

Entitled “Reflection”, this special show is composed by Dang Tue Nguyen, who is inspired by the verses of hat van (spiritual songs). Nguyen has composed various characters for the piece with different features which are to be described through the piano.

Between the episodes, My changes clothes and hairstyles for new roles while the vocals of Thanh Hoai and Duong Thanh An introduce the audience to My's new personas. Composer Duong Thu is art advisor while sculptor Dinh Cong Dat and designer Pham Ba Hung are stage designers.

My is a niece of composer Pho Duc Phuong. She has played the piano since she was 5 and later studied at the Musikgymnasium Carl Phillipp Emanuel Bach in Berlin. She won a piano-clarinet duet contest in Berlin in 1996 and returned home in 1998.

Nguyen was shortlisted before the final round of a young composer’s competition in Seoul in 2002.

Shows combining My's piano talent with classical drama and folk singing of northern ethnic groups will be held in Ha Noi in October and December respectively.
