The Vincom Center for Contemporary Art (VCCA) will host an artist talk this afternoon, from 5-7pm about the historical and spiritual symbols in Ha Manh Thang's Circle of Time painting series.
Artist Ha Manh Thang.
Thang’s paintings are culturally and historically enriched, but without nostalgia. Emotive and sculpture-like, his paintings can be described as an excavation of historical and traditional stories that have long been buried.
Thang was the only Vietnamese artist featured in Phaidon’s 2015 edition of Painting Today, a survey celebrating contemporary painters from around the globe.
In the Circle of Time series, he focuses on nature, especially spring, with metaphorical meaning of ups and downs in life. With tranquil depiction of time, memory and places, Thắng’s paintings reveal the power of nature.
The talk will be moderated by special guest Natalia Kraevskaia, art researcher, independent curator and co-founder of Salon Natasha.
The VCCA, is at Block R3, Level B1, Vincom Megamall Royal City, 72A Nguyen Trai Street.
