The rich reality and achievements attained during 25 years of renewal and the 20-year implementation of the platform on national construction in the transitional period to socialism prove that the CPV’s renewal policy is sound and creative, and that advancing to socialism is suitable to objective rules and Vietnam’s revolutionary reality.
Only socialism can ensure a real independence and freedom for the Vietnamese nation, a prosperous development for the country and a well off and happy life for the people, the participants stressed.
The theoricians analysed the importance of building socialism in Vietnam defined in the documents of the 11th National Party Congress, with a focus on speeding up national industrialisation and modernisation in combination with developing a knowledge-based economy and protecting natural resources and the environment; developing a socialist-oriented economy and building an advanced culture imbued with national identity.
They discussed measures to improve people’s living standards and realise social progress and equality; firmly ensure national defence and security, and social order and safety; implement a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation and development, active and proactive international integration; and building a socialist democracy.
They also spoke of the need to popularise and disseminate among people the basic contents of the 11th National Party Congress’ documents.
