Information technology and digitalisation have been seen as a solution to boost smart tourism in Vietnam, heard delegates at a conference held in Hanoi on October 6 under the theme ‘Smart tourism – Opportunities and Challenges to Vietnam.”
Vietnamese tourism businesses asked to build user-friendly websites and make transactions easier for online customers.
Delegates at the conference agreed that Vietnam’s tourism market has changed due to the robust development of technology, particularly in the growth of online tourism.
However, Vietnamese tourist companies and travel agents have not yet taken full advantages in utilising information and technology in boosting their competitiveness, attracting customers and managing their companies.
The participants also shared experience from developed countries in implementing smart tourism and introduced other solutions and technologies to boost smart tourism in Vietnam.
Vu The Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, stressed the need for tourism businesses to build user-friendly websites, which are compatible on smart phones, and provide users with online transactions making these transactions easier for online customers.
He also called on State agencies to provide technical support and favourable policies for domestic businesses, increase promotion programmes, and boost the advantages of online marketing.
