VietNamNet Bridge - As big as a giant pumpkin, non-stop bleeding, this tumour on the leg has caused Truong Phuoc Lap, age 14, unable to move for years.

The patient has been to the Children Hospital 1 in Ho Chi Minh city for one week. His health has been weak. His complexion doesn’t look good. It is expected that the surgeons will do operation for him in coming days.

Dr. Dao Trung Hieu – Vice Director of the hospital – said that the tumour is a big bag of blood and has grown into his bottom, belly, and sex organs.

Apart from the huge size, the tumour is non-stop bleeding. Since coming to the hospital, the patient has been infused nearly five more liters of blood.

“Surgery is the only way to save his life. Otherwise, the patient will suffer more pain and get weaker,” said Hieu. However, the most difficult tasks for the surgery are to avoid the patient from losing more blood from the veins in the tumour and to protect his leg at the same time.

Cao Thi Nho – the patient’s mother – decided to keep him even she knew about his tumour when she was pregnant. “When he was one year old, I realized that he was deaf and dumb. And the tumour has continued to expand,” she said.
