VietNamNet Bridge - Copa de Cafe is a tournament in the youth system of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). The event is held in Costa Rica from 31/12/2012 to 01/06/2013, using outdoor hard courts. As a tournament in Group 1, it attracts the participation of the world's top young players.

Ly Hoang Nam ranked 276th on the ITF’s young rankings so he was not selected as a seed in this tournament. However, Nam played very successfully.

In the first round, Hoang Nam defeated the 7th seed, Daniel Kerznerman from the US, after two set: 6/2, 6/1. In the second round on the morning of January 2, he continued to win 6/4, 6/2 in the game against Adrian Ortiz of Mexico, who ranked 416th in the world.

In the third round took place this morning, January 3, Hoang Nam easily defeated Arconada Jord of Argentina (297th) after two sets with the same ratio of 6/4.

His opponent in the quarterfinals will be the 4th seed Jorge Brian Panta Herreros of Peru (31st). This will be certainly a tough game for Hoang Nam.

Copa del Cafe is the 2nd tournament in Hoang Nam’s American tour. Earlier, in the Abierto Juvenil Mexicano 2012, he stopped in the second round.

After the tournament in Costa Rica, Hoang Nam will go to Venezuela to compete in the Copa Gatorade 2013 from January 7 to 13. This is also a tournament of Group 1, on outdoor hard courts. According to the updated list of the organizers, Hoang Nam is the 22nd seed of the tournament.

Recently the ITF announced the youth rankings for January 2013. Accordingly, Hoang Nam has climbed up by 66 places, to 162nd in the world. Vietnam’s Nguyen Hoang Thien also gained 47 spots up, to 116th. This is good sign for Vietnam when it has two young players in the top 200 of the world.
