VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnamese Under-19 team has drawn an easy group at the Asian football tournament but the Under-16 team faces big challenges.
The 2012 Asian Under-19 Football Championship's qualifier will be held at HCM City Thanh Long Sports Centre from October 31 to November 8.
Viet Nam is in group F with North Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar and Laos.
In preparation, the Vietnamese team will take part in the ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Under-19 Football Championship in Myanmar on September 8-20.
They will then take part in one-month's intensive training before hosting the Asian tourney.
The U1ù6 team, meanwhile, will go to Vientiane, Laos, for their 2012 Asian Under-16 Football Championship qualifying round on September 12-22.
In group F, they will compete with South Korea, Chinese Taipei, Cambodia, Japan and Laos in a round robin format.
South Korea and Japan are strong candidates who are expected to take the two top places of the group to enter the final round.
The junior players will warm-up at the AFF competition, also in Laos, on July 7-20.
