VietNamNet Bridge - Ten businesses have registered for membership of the Vietnam football sponsorship council, which will be established by Vietnam Professional Football JS Company (VPF).

The ten sponsors include the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV), the Military Telecommunications Group (Viettel), Vinamilk Corporation, Petrovietnam Fertilizer and Chemical Corporation (Phu My Fertilizer), Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group, Vietnam Technological and Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Techcombank), Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial Joint Stock Bank (Sacombank), Viet Capital Bank, Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), and Vietnam Prosperity Joint Stock Commercial Bank (VPbank).

These are big groups in Vietnam, which earn profit of over VND1,000 billion ($50 million)/year.

Sponsor have committed to grant VND5 billion ($250,000) each for the national football team in the first half of this year’s football season. The number will reach VND7.5 billion in 2013 and VND10 billion in 2014.

VPF's Chair Vo Quoc Thang said that with such funding, the national football squad can operate without financial support from the State budget.
