VietNamNet Bridge - Many dramatic movies such as “Les Misérables,” “The Impossible” or “The Tower” will make debuts at local cinemas in January 2013.

1. The Impossible

The film based on the true story of a Spanish family who survived the tsunami in the Indian Ocean in 2004 will open the 2013 film season.

The movie tells the story of a couple Maria and Henry who took their three sons to Thailand for a vacation.

On the morning on 26/12/2004, when the family was playing in a resort, a growl from the center of the Earth emerged. While Maria was numbed with fear, a huge wall of black water rushed toward her and others...

The movie featured the Sumatra-Andaman earthquake that triggered deadly tsunamis spreading all over the India Ocean and killed more than 200,000 eight years ago.

With stars like Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor, the film received many compliments when it was introduced at the Toronto Film Festival 2012.

2. Gambit

4. The Tower

This month, the Vietnamese audience will also enjoy a Korean film which promises to take away a lot of tears - The Tower. It is about a tower in Seoul that catches fire in the Christmas Eve. In flames, people who are trapped in the fire are panic and look for ways to escape from the hands of death.

The film takes the viewer into the work of the courageous firefighters. The Tower was produced at the cost of $10 million with spectacular explosion scenes on a skyscraper tower in Seoul.

5. The Guillotines 3D




Date of release: 11/1

The Chinese film revolves around “guillotine” – which is considered as the most feared weapon in the history of China. The weapon is formed by serrated blades and chain and it can kill anyone from far distance in a second.

This is the biggest-budget 3D movie of China to date, with $15 million. The movie has the participation of famous Chinese stars such as Huang Xiaoming, Ethan Ruan, Li Yuchun and Du Yue.

6. Bait 3D

This movie is about a group of people who get trapped in a Supermarket after a Tsunami hits the coast of Queensland, Australia. But they soon find out that they have more to worry about than being in a flooded grocery store, there's a 12 foot shark swimming around them, and it's hungry.

7. The Haunted House
