VietNamNet Bridge - The Asia Record Organization (ARO) on August 1 recognized 10 Vietnamese dishes for their gastronomic importance to the region at Faridabad, India.
The ten dishes consist of:
1. Com Tam Saigon (Saigon broken rice)
2. Goi Cuon Saigon (Saigon raw fish and vegetables)
3. Pho Hanoi (Hanoi noodle)
4. Bun Thang Hanoi (Hanoi vermicelli and chicken soup)
5. Bun Cha Hanoi (Hanoi vermicelli and grilled chopped meat)
6. Banh da cua Haiphong (Hai Phong crab noodles)
7. Com chay Ninh Binh (Ninh Binh rice crackers)
8. Mien luon Nghe An (Nghe An eel vermicelli)
9. Pho Kho Gia Lai (Gia Lai dry noodles)
10. Banh Khot Vung Tau (Vung Tau coconut-turmeric shrimp pancakes)
In late June, the Vietnam Record Book Centre (Vietkings) nominated 15 Vietnamese dishes to ARO’s recognition. The final list of 10 dishes was announced one month later.
The ARO asked Vietkings to submit more information, pictures and documentation about the remaining five dishes so they can reconsider them for similar accreditation. The decision will be made public in late August.
The five remaining dishes include: banh canh Trang Bang (rice spaghetti), mi Quang (noodles), banh cong Soc Trang (rice and green bean cake with shrimp), Bun bo Hue (spicy beef noodles) and Cha ca La Vong Hanoi (a mixture of shrimp paste, lime and chili slices; vegetables, peanuts and rice vermicelli).
An ARO representative will come to Vietnam and present the titles to representatives of the ten relevant provinces and cities from where the dishes originate in September.
