VietNamNet Bridge – Ten Vietnamese executives received the titles of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Chief Security Officer (CSO) at the 9 th ASEAN CIO/CSO Awards presentation ceremony in Ho Chi Minh City last week.
Among them were Hoang Minh Cuong, Director of the Vietnam Internet Centre and Phung Quang Hung, Director of the Technology and Operation Department of Techcombank, and Nguyen Le Thanh from VNG group.
Eighteen others from ASEAN member nations were also honoured at the event.
The ASEAN CIO&CSO Awards, the first of its kind in the ASEAN community, are organised by the International Data Group (IDG) in collaboration with the National Steering Committee for Information Technology, the Ministry of Information and Communication, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and others.
It honours outstanding individuals from state agencies, social organisations and businesses for their significant contributions to improving the effectiveness of their agencies’ operation and the socio-economic development in general through their initiatives on IT and security.
Organised annually in Vietnam since 2005, the CIO title is the most celebrated award in the IT field in the country. Meanwhile, the CSO award has been given out four times.
This is the first time the two awards have been presented in a single event, showing the two fields’ close link in creating a stable foundation for the IT sector’s development.
The same day, IDG announced to the launch of the ASEAN CIO and CSO Academy (ACCA), which will train CIOs and CSOs of international standards.
