VietNamNet Bridge – The ten-time national champion is more likely to finish his coach course in the U.S. early to join the tennis team of Vietnam in the play-off round of the Davis Cup, Group II Asia - Pacific.
Tennis talent may be disciplined for not joining the national team
Do Minh Quan.
The absence of two top players Ly Hoang Nam and Do Minh Quan is considered the main cause of failure of Vietnam in the latest round, against Pakistan.
An official from the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) said the organization would summon Minh Quan, who is attending a coach training course in the U.S. for the play-off round against Sri Lanka on April 4-6.
However, Minh Quan has not attended many tournaments recently so it is hard for him to fit the 5-set games of the Davis Cup. At the 2013 national championships, Minh Quan did not compete in the men’s single, just the men’s doubles.
As for Ly Hoang Nam, the VTF may ban him from the tournaments held by this organization and not call him to the national team if the player keeps being absent from the team.
Nam’s coach - Tran Duc Quynh – will not be punished because he has a valid reason: attending a coach training course in America.
Head of the Sports and Physical Education Administration – Mr. Vuong Bich Thang said that the agency highly appreciates Becamex’s investment in training Ly Hoang Nam but Becamex should not neglect the common benefits of the Vietnam sports.
Ly Hoang Nam.
Thang also said that Ly Hoang Nam and his mother had repeatedly called officials of the Sports and Physical Education Administration to ask for their intervention so Nam could play for the national team but officials could not contact Becamex’s managers.
Thang said that the agency would not convene coach Tran Duc Quynh and Ly Hoang Nam to the national team to play in international tournaments. Nam may also lose the right to compete at the National Games this year
In addition, the VTF will ban Nam from all of its tournaments and if this happens, Nam will be unable to defend his national championship.
Currently, Nam is attending a training course in Thailand to prepare for the ITF, Group 1 in Nonthaburi in March.
