On the morning of April 3, oil curdles appeared on more than 2 km coast of Bai Sau, Vung Tau city. Officials of the Bien Dong resort said more than 200 staff members were sent to the beach to collect over 36 tons of oil.

"At the dawn, the volume of oil that washed ashore was not much but it came in huge amounts at about 8-9am. We had to clean the beach again and again," one employee said.

Similarly, the other beaches in the area of Bai Sau had to mobilize all employees to collect tons of oil spilled on the beach. Local people said this is not the first time this phenomenon occurred. It usually happens in March-April every year.

According to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Ba Ria - Vung Tau, the oil clots cannot be reused. This is hazardous waste that must be brought for destruction. The department has asked relevant agencies to determine the cause but they have yet to find out the origins of this waste oil.
