As Nguyen Hue Boulevard is being reconstructed into a pedestrian-only square, the city government has decided will move the 2015 Flower Street Festival to Ham Nghi Boulevard this Tet.

2015 Flower Street Festival

This year the scale of the Tet Flower Street remains unchanged from the previous year and this special street will stretch 580 meters from the area next to Quach Thi Trang Roundabout in front of the landmark Ben Thanh Market to Ho Tung Mau Street near the Saigon River.

In the Year of the Goat, visitors can see statues of a goat family on the street. Each detail of these goals is carefully crafted to demonstrate specific features of the mountain goat from the northern province of Ninh Binh.

Apart from a number of trees and flowers, handicrafts such as dolls representing indigenous people from the country’s north, center and south, bamboo blinds covering flower baskets, and goats made of straw will be used to decorate the flower street.

The countryside which can be seen through a yellow paddy field and cottages will be blended with the images of modern city life, especially those of a metro line which is under construction in the center of the city. This will give spectators a complete picture of the nation’s diversity.

In particular, there will be an area for hotels and restaurants of Saigontourist and the Japan-Vietnam Cultural Association to display flowers and fruits on the fourth day of the first lunar month.

The 2015 Flower Street Festival on Ham Nghi Street will run from 7 p.m. on February 16 (the 28th of the twelfth lunar month) to 10 p.m. on February 22 (the 4th of the first lunar month).

Lighting decoration on Ham Nghi Boulevard

The LED-lit arches, picture frames and flower vases are good backgrounds for visitors to pose for photographs.

Quach Thi Trang Roundabout is also brightly lit with the theme of 40 years of the country’s development, featuring images of two metro trains moving forwards mingled with apricot blossoms, yellow stars, and doves.

The lighting systems for the boulevard will be there until February 28 (or the 10th of the first lunar month).

Street decoration and door shows

Hotels under Saigontourist will decorate their Tet-theme entrances. Unicorn dance, music and drum performances will take place the Caravelle Saigon, Rex, Majestic Saigon and Continental Saigon hotels from February 16 (the 28th of the twelfth lunar month) to February 21 (the third of the first lunar month).

This Tet festival is sponsored by media organizations such as Saigon Times Group, Sai Gon Tiep Thi, HCMC Television, Tuoi Tre, Sai Gon Giai Phong, Thanh Nien, Doanh Nhan Sai Gon, Nguoi Lao Dong, Phu Nu TPHCM, and Vietnam News.
