Flower farmers in Cai Mon of Ben Tre Province and Sa Dec of Dong Thap Province, and household businesses in the delta normally distribute flowers to retailers two weeks ahead of Tet, which begins on February 19 this year and lasts until February 28.
Nguyen Kim Phuong, the owner of a flower farm in Sa Dec, said farmers are much busier watering and fertilizing flower plants several months prior to Tet to make sure the flowers will be in blossom just in time. The blossom time decides how much flowers and ornamental plants cost.
She said now is the time for transporting Tet flowers to other parts of the country for sale. Therefore, the flower farms in the delta are seen crowded all day long.
Resellers from other provinces are converging there to choose the most beautiful flowers for distribution before Tet.
