VietNamNet Bridge – Pop and semi-classical singer Duc Tuan will release his latest music video on his official Youtube channel on January 22.

The video, entitled Ly Rượu Mừng (A Toss), offers scenes of a bustling Tet market, lion dancing and the traditional family feast.

Two decades since they were banned, firecrackers are also featured in the video.

Talking with Việt Nam News, the HCM City-based singer said his team had to complete strict paperwork to gain permission to use firecrackers in the video.

“It was worthwhile to create a video which will make everyone happy,” the singer said.  

To film the video, the 20,000-square metre Ao Dai Museum owned by famous designer Sy Hoang with several traditional tiled roof houses, a large green garden and ponds were turned into a village market.  

In some scenes, Tuan’s father and actress Nhu Quynh star as the singer’s parents, who are longing for their beloved son to come back for a reunion.

The costumes worn by the cast of more than 200 dancers, actors and models were designed by Sy Hoang and Trinh Hoang Dieu, who is the younger sister of famous composer Trinh Cong Son.

Unlike the original version of the song, which was writen in Valse melodies, the version performed by Tuan is a combination of pop and semi-classic.

According to the singer, he spent VND2 billion (US$86,000) to create “this gift for everyone”.  

Writen in 1952, the Valse-tuned song Ly Rượu Mừng by Pham Dinh Chuong is often played during Tết thanks to its joyful melodies and meaningful lyrics.

The music video will be available on Duc Tuan’s Youtube channel from 8pm on Tuesday. On January 18, the CD single was launched on music streaming platforms including iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
